A Good First Week Back
Dear Parents,
This first week back has flown by! Interestingly, several staff members have commented that children's behaviour since the half term holiday seems to have become even better. Certainly, this is something I see in my assemblies - from Reception to Year six, behaviour and participation in assembly really are excellent!
An Opportunity to Collaborate
Following our OFSTED last year, all staff said they felt we need to collaborate more with other schools and work with experts to improve areas of practice. I'm pleased to say that we have been matched up with John Taylor MAT and we will be receiving ten days' expert advice and support from their Primary Practitioners over the rest of the year. As you will know, many of our year sixes go on to study at John Taylor and, as a MAT, they have an excellent reputation for high standards. We very much look forward to this partnership.
The Project Has Begun...
The picture below is hopefully a familiar one. It is the sign right at the front of school outside of the office. Whilst beautifully painted, the sign is undeniably quite old and faded now. Mrs Ridley has begun an exciting project with local mosaic artist, Wendy Foxon, to re-create our welcome sign with a beautiful glass mosaic. This will encapsulate our Christian Values and children next week will be creating designs to reflect these. Wendy will pick elements from several of these to create the final masterpiece. We cannot wait for work to get underway and will be unveiling this when it is complete. Many thanks to the PTFA for their generous contribution toward the funding of this project.
Firework-themed Bake-off
Many thanks for those of your who entered the bake-off this morning. As always, it was a pleasure to judge the children's efforts; there were some particularly delicious-looking contribution. The winners were:
Kennedy (Reception)
Arlo (year 1)
Alfie (year 5)
These cakes, and plenty more, will be on sale at the end of the day today.
Fingers crossed for more blue skies and sunshine this weekend - I hope you and your families have a restful couple of days.
Kind regards,
Miss E Wilson
