Goodbye, Autumn A...
Dear Parents/Carers,
As we conclude our first half term back, I wanted to share a few messages and reflections.
This half term has seen a great number of new successes you may or may not be aware of:
* We are now putting our brand new iPads to good use and this is proving highly popular among children, both in Computing lessons and in the wider curriculum. In particular at the moment, teachers have been using an interactive quiz called Blooket.com to test children's knowledge. This has become highly competitive so why not take a look over half term?
* The library is fully up and running and being managed by our super year six librarians. All children access the library weekly, with KS2 having the option of attending at lunchtimes. I have greatly enjoyed connecting with the children in these lunchtime sessions and hearing about their favourite books, and I value the kind words from many of you as to how enthused your children have been by the new facility.
* Early this term, we offered Bikeability sessions to more year groups than ever before. This knowledge will equip children to use their bicycles safely and increase confidence. We are proud of the children for their efforts in these sessions, especially those who were initially nervous!
* Laches Wood - our year six residential - was a fantastic experience and this group of children were an absolute credit. Children pushed themselves in activities such as canoeing, orienteering and high ropes. All the teachers who attended were highly complimentary about the team spirit and perseverance shown by the children.
Hopefully after the Parents' Evenings this week, you are pleased with the progress your child is making. We especially appreciate the support you give in reading with your child and practising spellings. As always, teachers are happy to speak to you at times outside this to discuss progress, or to help you help your child.
I would finally like to extend personal thanks on behalf of school for your support this half term. I hope you have a lovely break and look forward to seeing you in the new half term.
Wish best wishes,
Mrs Eleanor Fussell
