In the Summer Term, we are delighted to be working with Alrewas Cricket Club, who will be coming into school and leading after school cricket clubs for Key Stages 1 and 2. This will be a great opportunity for children to take up a new sport, as we are fortunate to have such a vast playing field.

Wednesday 8 February 2023 Budding Archaeologists in Year 3! Year three have been learning about Rocks and Soil, and have bee focusing particularly on fossils, which they have found fascinating. This week, they have created their own salt doughs out of salt, flour, coffee grounds and water. They have pressed fossils into their to make really effective fossil moulds. Well done, year three!

I have been reliably informed that we are hoping to bribe potential volunteers with mulled wine and hot dogs!

Friday 4 November 2022 Eraser pens From next week, we would ask that children do not use pens with ink erasers. This is for a few reasons. Firstly, we are finding that when teachers identify an error whilst marking, children are then rubbing out the error and correcting it - thus making it seem as if the teacher has wrongly marked something incorrect. Secondly, we want to be able to see initial errors and misconceptions children have, so we can clearly see where they have improved and now understand. We also think it's important children understand that mistakes are an important part of learning - not something to get rid of altogether.

Wednesday 2 November 2022 Photographer - Friday 4th November Just a reminder that the photographers will be in school this Friday. You are welcome to bring younger siblings in for a group photo. If you would like to do this, please bring your children through the Key Stage 2 gate at 8:30am and head to the mobile. After your family photo has been taken, a member of staff will ensure children are brought into the building and into class. Children will not be given a late mark if this is after the close of registers. Please ensure children are in full school uniform on this day - school logoed jumpers are preferred but not mandatory. If your child has PE on this day, you may wish to bring them in a different t-shirt to wear for the photo.

Wednesday 2 November 2022 Parent Support Session - Nurturing Positive Friendships The HOPE Project (who support us with our Listening Ear Programme) are offering a workshop to support parents. The theme of this workshop is Nurturing Positive Friendships and the areas covered include Online Behaviour, and Managing Conflict.

Tuesday 1 November 2022 A Gift from the Alrewas Civic Society This week, all children will be bringing home a daffodil bulb, kindly donated by the Alrewas Civic Society. The Alrewas Civic Society work alongside the Parish Council to make the village even more attractive, enjoyable and distinctive.

Friday 21 October 2022 Incredible Pumpkins! We were absolutely blown away by the quality of pumpkins entered into the PTFA competition today. Take a look at some of the wonderful entries we received! Prizes have been awarded to children in class earlier today. Please could all parents ensure pumpkins are removed from the KS1 yard this afternoon, as clearing them up after a week's holiday will not be very pleasant!
