Giving Gifts at Christmas
Dear Parents/Carers
As Christmas fast approaches and the children are getting excited about Christmas lists, we are asking them to consider those less fortunate than themselves.
The Young Ones is a charity based in Burton that supports families in crisis, whether that be through poverty, bereavement or other circumstances beyond their control. Throughout the year the Young Ones charity, collects donations and makes up boxes of goods to give to these families. At Christmas time they make up gift boxes for young people aged 0 -17 so that everyone can feel loved and cared for at this special time.
The School Council would very much like All Saints’ to support The Young Ones this year and have held a meeting to discuss how best to do this.
After talking with the charity and asking what sort of gifts would be the most useful, the School Council has come up with a list of ideas and divided it up between the classes, so that there is a range of gifts.
With your help we are hoping to collect these items –
Reception & Yr 1 – soft toys for different age groups
Yr 2 – craft making resources or simple activity packs
Yr 3 – simple games (card, board etc) or sweets/chocolates
Yr 4 – fidget toys, colouring pencils and colouring books
Yr 5 – books (fiction or activity) and/or pencil cases
Yr 6 – Christmas smellies (bath bombs, shower gel etc) and hair accessories
The children are busy making posters to put up around school and are also talking to their classes to drum up support, but obviously we cannot do this without your help.
If you would like to donate a gift, please can it be brought into school by Friday the 28th November at the latest.
Thank you for your ongoing support
The School Council, Mrs Haycock & Mrs Lawler
