Returning to School....
Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you had a wonderful Summer and the children are excited to return to school next week. We are certainly looking forward to seeing them – it is fairly terrifying how much they grow and change in just six weeks.
As a staff, we have an overwhelming sense of positivity about the year ahead of us. There is so much to look forward to: The Grand Opening of the school library; getting stuck into our new Computing curriculum with the brand new iPads; the full tech upgrade coming later in the year; trips, visitors, tournaments, concerts….it’s going to be a busy one! I’d just like to start the year with a few notices and reminders…
Diary Dates
Shortly, I shall be putting the key dates onto the website calendar, and also as a document on Latest News, so that you can plan for the year ahead. As always, these have been planned the best of our ability but sometimes these may require changing. We will of course do our best to avoid this where possible.
I’d like to share some dates that are relevant for next week: our Meet the Teacher sessions. These are a short 20 minute session held after school where the teacher will deliver some information about the year ahead. You are very welcome to stay after the presentation and chat to the teacher or ask specific queries. If you are unable to attend, teachers will place the slide decks on the class page. These will take place at 3:30pm and are on the following dates:
Reception – Thursday 5th September
Years 1 and 2 – Friday 6th September
Years 3 and 4 – Monday 9th September
Years 5 and 6 – Tuesday 10th September.
Contact with Teachers
Just a reminder that as a school, we do share teachers’ work email addresses and are happy for you to make contact with teachers about your children. I know this has been vital in some cases in sharing information quickly and effectively. However, I would just like to remind all parents that teachers cannot respond instantly and are not expected to respond outside of working hours. Teachers aim to respond to all emails within 48 hours.
Most issues will be simply actioned or resolved by class teachers. However, for more serious concerns, or if you believe an issue has not been satisfactorily resolved, please do contact me – either via email or by making an appointment at the office.
Equipment and Uniform
As we begin a new year, it is always good to make sure children have the correct uniform and equipment. At All Saints, we do not insist on tops with the school logo embroidered, but we do ask that all children stick to the school colours. Specifics can be found here: All Saints' CE Primary School Alrewas - Uniform (greenhousecms.co.uk)
We do ask that children wear standard school shoes and not trainers, flip-flops, Ugg boots or similar.
As I have mentioned in previous newsletters, we are continuing to try and reduce the amount we spend on consumables such as pens, pencils and glue sticks. We would be extremely grateful if children in key stage 2 could bring in a pencil case containing stationery, e.g. blue pen, pencil, ruler, glue, eraser and pencil crayons. If this is not possible, we of course have these freely available for all children in class.
I hope you all enjoy the last few days of your holiday and I look forward to welcoming you back shortly.
Kind regards,
Mrs E Fussell
