Safe Driving and Conduct Outside School
Dear Parents,
We have been made aware of some issues in front of school regarding parking, unsafe driving and disputes about this, including taking pictures of other parents' parking and posting these to the village Facebook page. This inevitably leads to unhelpful online exchanges which spill over at pick-up/drop-off times, including angry confrontations and foul language.
This is in front of a school, where we are currently working extremely hard to ensure our children know how to respectfully avoid angry confrontations, and do not use foul language. We are also trying to educate the children about safe and respectful on online behaviours, and it is important that what they learn is modelled by all adult role models.
I will once again be requesting support from the PCSO to observe the situation at drop-off/pick-up. We all know it is a very narrow street and ultimately we all just want our children to get in and out of school safely. Please remember that obstructing junctions and pathways contravenes the Highway Code, as well as making it unsafe for families walking to school. Where possible, we advise walking to school, or "park and stride," involving parking a short distance away from school and walking the last part of the route.
If you have any further concerns regarding parking or conduct at pick-ups/drop-offs, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
