School Meals After Half Term

Dear Parents/ Carers,

I am writing today to share some information about school meals. As we are all acutely aware, the cost of living has increased sharply - in particular the prices of food. At this time of year, we are in the process of setting the new budget for the next financial year and, as with many schools at the moment, our finances are stretched extremely thinly.

Our catering providers, Mellors, are also experiencing the effects of inflation and they, in turn, have passed on increased costs to us. As a school, we are simply unable to absorb these increased costs and this means that, regrettably, we have no other option than to increase the price of our school meals after half term. The new price of school meals (for children who do not receive Universal Infant Free School Meals or Benefits-related Free School Meals) will be £2.95

We recognise this is not a small increase and you may wish to re-consider your child's lunch options.
If you think you may qualify for Free School Meals, I would strongly urge you to apply here Apply online - Free School Meals - Staffordshire County Council
If your child receives Free School Meals because they are in KS1 but you think you might qualify for means-tested FSM, I would also strongly urge you to apply via the link above. The school receives extra funding for each child in receipt of Pupil Premium and this does make a huge difference to us.
If you would like to discuss this further, please do get in contact.
