All Saints’ Primary and Nursery School: Summer Newsletter

 Dear Parents/ Carers,

I am delighted to welcome you back this term and hope you have had a restful Easter, despite the fairly dismal weather! Summer term is always particularly enjoyable as we finally get to make use of our lovely field at breaktimes and lunchtimes, and there are regular sporting events taking place every week.

I’d just like to share a few reminders about things taking place in school over the coming term, some of which we’d love your support with.

Tesco Stronger Starts (Blue Tokens)

At the end of last year, we applied to Tesco to be part of their “blue token” scheme, supporting Stronger Starts, in order to raise funds for Forest School equipment. Happily, we were selected and now (April-June) is the time when we will be one of the blue token charities in several local stores. The charity with the most blue tokens at the end of the period will receive £1500; the second highest number will receive £1000 and the third highest will receive £500. Obviously, we would love to receive as much as we can so we would be very grateful for your support. The stores with us as one of their charities are:

Dosthill Tamworth Express
Amington Tamworth Express
Fazeley Tamworth Express
Lichfield Extra
Lichfield Three Spires Express
Lichfield Netherstow Express
Shenstone Lichfield Express

Library

Work on the school library is continuing and we remain extremely grateful for donations from yourselves, either via the JustGiving page or through donation at school events such as class assemblies or to the PTFA. Several donations have been made directly to the school account as opposed to the JustGiving page, but I’m happy to share that currently, these donations stand at over £4000. This will go a great deal of the way toward the work needed on to fully equip the room. We are still accepting donations of books! Please do bring any unwanted books to the office – they will be put to good use!

We are currently recruiting our librarians for next year from our current year fives. Interested children have been asked to complete an application form, and in the coming weeks, interviews will be held for this very important role in school. This term, the librarians will help us make key decisions on the layout and decoration of the room, and will receive training on how to use the computerised card system. We can’t wait for this to be up and running in the Autumn and we will most certainly be holding events where you can come and see the library for yourselves.

Finally, we would be very appreciative if you could share the JustGiving link far and wide, as every penny received really will make a difference.

 Staffing for Next Year

Staffing for next year is currently being finalised and will be shared with you as soon as possible and transition days will take place toward the end of the year. Personalised transition plans will be discussed with you where needed, and teachers will be very happy to meet with you to support your child.

Parents’ Consultations

These are taking place in school this week and we look forward to welcoming you in, as always. In order to promote transparency and communication within school, I would like to draw your attention to two recent posts on Latest News on the website. These will hopefully help raise awareness of what should be shared at Parents’ Consultations, in order that you get the most out of these sessions.

School Vision Session

You may have seen the recent post on Latest News, inviting you to a session in school where we will be examining our Christian Vision and considering whether this still accurately reflects the ethos and aims of our school. This session is open for ALL parents, whether Christian, or another faith, or no faith. This is the first such session we will have run, and we would love to have a real range of thoughts and opinions. Your children will be doing some work on this in their Class Collective Worships this half term. This will take place on Friday 10th May at 2:30pm.

Parents Support Session

Just a reminder that Keddie Bailey from HOPE will be running a session for parents on Tuesday 9th April at 9:15am in the school hall. The subject of this session will be After School Restraint Collapse. From conversations with yourselves, we know that this may be particularly helpful, and will explore those questions we have about why children’s behaviour can seem to decline after school: Why are they doing it? Is it person? Does it need consequences?

Finally…

I would like to thank you once again for your support to us as a school as we continue on our journey of improvement. We really are privileged to teach these wonderful children and be part of the lovely community of Alrewas. As always, please get in touch if you have any thoughts or concerns.

With best wishes,

Miss E Wilson
