Teacher's Industrial Action - Update
Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you for your patience in anticipating this update. I had hoped to communicate with you earlier in the week, but trying to work through the guidance provided has proven complicated.
At this point, I can confirm that some teachers will be taking industrial action on 1st February. However, at this stage I am working on plans to ensure that no classes will close on this day.
I will provide further details next week to keep you properly informed, however there are some things I can share at this point:
> On this day, your child may work in a different class for part or all of the day.
> Your child may be doing different work from their usual sequence of lessons.
> Safety of children will be paramount - at all points of the day, correct adult:child ratios will be adhered to.
I am aware this advice at this point may appear brief or ambiguous, but please bear in mind that staff are not obliged to share with me their intentions regarding striking. They are also entitled to change their mind. If more teachers choose to strike, we may be in a position where some classes may close due to lack of adult supervision.
As head, I am in the tricky position of managing my staff's legal right to strike, and my headteacher's duty toward the education and wellbeing of the pupils.
I hope you can appreciate this is a complex situation and plans are subject to change. Please be assured I will keep you informed of any changes and provide further details over the coming week.
Kind regards,
Miss E Wilson
