World Book Day 2024
Dear Parents,
World Book Day will be taking place in school on Thursday 7th March.
This year, Mrs Palmer has planned a fabulous day full of reading and writing activities and we are really excited about the prospect of being authors, readers and illustrators for the day.
In addition to this, we are pleased to announce two additional elements to this day.
> We would like to offer children the chance to take part in an optional MAT-Wide competition on World Book Day, which is to create a character from your favourite book....out of a toilet roll centre. Mrs Palmer has helpfully designed a poster below with some ideas, but we know All Saints' pupils have exceptional creativity skills, so we cannot wait to see what children produce. Please could these be brought to classrooms on World Book Day? Prizes to be won!
> Secondly, as always, we give children the option of dressing up as a character from their favourite book. As a staff, we have been discussing our own costumes this year, as we thought it would be nice to have a common theme. However, this theme seems to have been decided for us by some excited year fives... It seems several children in year five have decided to dress on WBD as Oompa Loompas from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. As a result, we staff have decided to dress as other characters from this much-loved book. Year five have asked me to let you know that any Oompa Loompas in other year groups would be very welcome!
This is completely optional and we welcome any book-related costumes.
Thank you in advance for your support on World Book Day.
